It's not exactly what you think...
I've been thinking a lot about "Swedish death cleaning"(*) which means "Death cleaning is not about dusting or mopping up; it is about a permanent form of organization that makes your everyday life run more smoothly." Why?
We've been in our home for 2 years in October, but yet, I still have storage tubs in the guest bedroom and I see clutter -- my artwork and supplies, photos and albums, clothes, boxes, crafts-in-progress, etc. I don't use 60% of the things in there! I say to myself, tomorrow!
Moving on to my closet. It's a walk-in, nice size, and I've managed to fill 70% of it with my things. Clothes I've had for years that I no longer wear. Time to start the piles, KEEP, DONATE, THROW AWAY.
In this same closet we keep our file cabinet. Papers that I have had for years from medical to retirement, to insurance, etc. Time to do the death cleaning here!
Just a few days ago I found more things I need to get rid of or at least consolidate. I kept journals from the early 80s. Glad I did, these little, cute journals do tell my life story and so many things I wrote I don't remember! From East Orange to Isreal to Colorado and California and to present day. I supposed I can type them all up in chonological order and add photos from my travels and family and make an album for my nieces. Aaaahhh, it needs time!
Well, let's see how I do. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
